My Unforgettable Day at Khao Kheow Open Zoo: Starting with Baby Mo Deng
The Journey Begins
As I stepped through the gates of Khao Kheow Open Zoo just as they opened at 8:00 AM, the morning air was crisp and filled with the sounds of waking wildlife. My heart raced with anticipation – today I would finally meet the zoo’s newest celebrity, baby elephant Mo Deng.

First Stop: Meeting Baby Mo Deng
Following the signs to the Elephant Nursery, I could already hear the excited chatter of other visitors. And then I saw him – little Mo Deng, his tiny frame dwarfed by his mother Mae Dok, yet full of playful energy. At just a few months old, he was already showing his personality:
Playful antics: Stumbling over his own feet while chasing a ball
Curious nature: Investigating everything with his tiny trunk
Sweet bond: Constantly staying close to his protective mother
The keeper, Khun Somchai, shared heartwarming stories about Mo Deng’s development. “Just last week, he discovered he could spray water with his trunk – now he tries to soak everyone!” he laughed as Mo Deng demonstrated this new skill.

Exploring the Rest of the Zoo
After spending nearly an hour captivated by Mo Deng’s adorable antics, I set out to discover the rest of this incredible zoo:
1. Giraffe Feeding Platform
The elevated platform let me come face-to-face with these gentle giants. For 30 THB, I bought leaves to feed them, marveling at their long eyelashes and delicate way of taking food.

2. Predator Zone
The big cat enclosures took my breath away:
Bengal tigers prowling their territory
White tigers lounging majestically
African lions napping in the sun
3. Primate Conservation Center
I watched in fascination as:
Orangutans used tools to get food
Gibbons swung gracefully between trees
Squirrel monkeys played chase

4. Open Deer Park
One of the most magical experiences was walking among:
Spotted deer eating from my hand
Curious emus following visitors
Wallabies hopping freely
