Exploring Bangkok: A Day at Klong Toei Market, Benchakiti Park, and Queen Sirikit Convention Center
Bangkok is a city of contrasts—where bustling markets meet serene parks and modern convention centers. During my recent trip, I spent a day exploring three very different but equally fascinating places: Klong Toei Market, Benchakiti Park, and the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. If you’re planning a trip to Bangkok, this itinerary offers a mix of local culture, relaxation, and contemporary attractions.
The best way to go to the Klong Toei market is by MRT then take the station Khlong Toei MRT station, then is 5 minutes walk to the market
Morning Adventure: Klong Toei Market
A Glimpse into Local Life
My day started early at Klong Toei Market, Bangkok’s largest fresh market. This is where locals come to buy everything from exotic fruits and fresh seafood to spices and street food. Unlike the more touristy markets, Klong Toei is raw, authentic, and full of energy.
What I Tried & Loved
Mango Sticky Rice – A must-try Thai dessert! The sweet coconut milk paired with ripe mango was heavenly.
Grilled Pork Skewers (Moo Ping) – Juicy, smoky, and flavorful, best eaten with sticky rice.
Fresh Coconut Juice – Perfect for cooling down in Bangkok’s heat.
Tips for Visiting
Go early (6-9 AM) to see the market at its liveliest.
Wear comfortable shoes—the floors can be wet and slippery.
Bring small bills—vendors prefer cash, and bargaining is common.

Midday Escape: Benchakiti Park (The Green Lung of Bangkok)
A Peaceful Oasis in the City
After the sensory overload of Klong Toei, I headed to Benchakiti Park, a hidden gem near the Queen Sirikit Convention Center. This park is a breath of fresh air—literally! With a large lake, walking trails, and plenty of shaded spots, it’s perfect for a relaxing break.
What I Enjoyed
Biking Around the Lake – You can rent bikes for just ฿50/hour.
Picnic by the Water – I grabbed some snacks from a nearby 7-Eleven and enjoyed the view.
Bird Watching – The park is home to several bird species, making it great for nature lovers.
Why Visit?
Free entry (unlike some other parks in Bangkok).
Less crowded than Lumpini Park.
Great photo spots with the city skyline in the background.

Afternoon Exploration: Queen Sirikit National Convention Center
Modern Architecture & Events
My final stop was the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), one of Bangkok’s premier venues for international exhibitions, conferences, and concerts. The architecture is sleek and futuristic, making it a cool spot even if you’re not attending an event.
Highlights
The Grand Lobby – Impressive design with high ceilings and modern art.
Upcoming Events – Check their website for concerts or expos during your visit.
Nearby Malls – Connected to Benjakitti Forest Park and close to EmQuartier for shopping.
Best Time to Visit
If there’s a public event, it’s worth stopping by. Otherwise, the surrounding area (especially the park) is still a great visit.
